Holle has been a pioneer of biodynamic baby products since 1934 and offers baby food of the highest organic quality. As the first Demeter manufacturer of baby and infant food, we embrace a holistic approach and assume responsibility for people, nature and future generations. We are firmly committed to the philosophy of ‘Sustainable from the beginning’ and try to improve every single day in order to ensure that our little ones grow up healthily today and can look forward to a positive future tomorrow.

Pioneering spirit meets Swiss origins

The history of Holle began over 85 years ago in the Swiss town of Arlesheim. Founded in 1933, Holle Nährmittel AG was the first biodynamic processor of bread, cereals, grains and baby porridges in Switzerland. Since then, we have established ourselves as a long-standing expert in biodynamic baby and infant nutrition.

From the very outset, we have believed that only by taking a holistic approach can we live up to our corporate responsibility towards people, nature and future generations. This is why sustainable company management is and always will be our top priority.

Wir sind heute ein international tätiges Unternehmen in mehr als 50 Ländern vertreten und bieten ein vollumfassendes Produktsortiment von über 90 Produkten für Babys und Kleinkinder. Gleichzeitig haben wir unsere Wurzeln nicht vergessen – sind unserem Schweizer Ursprung treu geblieben und weiterhin in Familienhand. Unser Hauptstandort befindet sich nach wie vor in Riehen in der Schweiz. Tradition begreifen wird nicht als festgerostete Bremse, sondern als Anker auf dem stetigen Weg der Veränderung in Richtung Zukunft.

Diese Zukunft soll eine enkeltaugliche sein, dafür setzen wir uns entschieden ein. „Nachhaltig von Anfang an“ lautet unser Leitsatz, den wir im doppelten Sinne leben: Wir setzen seit jeher auf wertvolle Rohstoffe aus biodynamischer oder biologischer Erzeugung, damit unsere Kleinen heute gesund aufwachsen können und gross werden mit dem Besten aus der Natur.

Corporate structure

Our many years of company history have been shaped by constant development. With over fifty employees, our administrative headquarters are still in Riehen, Switzerland. We create structures that can grow with us in order to meet ever-increasing demands. In recent years, the Holle Group has grown to include a service company in Lörrach, a cutting-edge drying plant for milk raw ingredients for use in baby food in Teningen and a logistics warehouse in Grünsfeld. Overall, our Holle team consists of some 100 employees across our companies. Together, they form the foundations of a successful future.

1933

Foundation of Holle Nährmittel AG in Arlesheim, Switzerland.

1934

First biodynamic processor of bread, cereals, grains and baby porridges.

1951

Holle is the first company to receive a Demeter processing contract.

1980

1980s: Entry into the DACH region. Holle products are launched on the natural and organic food market.

1990

1990s: Expansion of product range into a comprehensive portfolio of organic baby food. First organic infant formula with over 99% organic ingredients.

1999

Acquisition of global trademark rights for Holle baby food and founding of Holle baby food GmbH with headquarters in Riehen, Switzerland.

2009

Conversion of infant formula to Demeter quality.

2013

First Co2e-neutral Demeter infant formulas are launched onto the market.

2015

Introduction of a comprehensive range of infant formula made from organic goat’s milk.

2018

Holle baby food AG is re-named – Holle becomes a public limited company and remains under family ownership.

2019

Introduction of Holle Kids products for children from the age of three.

2020

Launch of Biopulver GmbH, a state-of-the-art special drying plant for milk raw ingredients for baby food (subsidiary of Holle baby food AG).

2021

Foundation of Holle Europe GmbH with headquarters in Lörrach.

2021

Holle formulas become climate positive from October 2021.
